How To Create A Variable Product In WooCommerce?

With WooCommerce's variable products, you can offer a number of product variations with control over the price, stock, image, and more for each one. They can be applied to items like shirts, where you can provide large, medium, and small sizes in a variety of colours.

Multiple possibilities for a single item can be displayed using product variations, allowing clients to choose the one they prefer. Although there are a few techniques to using this tool, once you get the hang of it, listing products with as many versions as you want becomes straightforward.

We will define and describe WooCommerce variations in this article. After that, we'll show you how to configure them for your products. Let's look at it!

A Primer on Woocommerce Variations and Attributes

A product you list in your WooCommerce store could occasionally only be available in one kind. However, many things will have a variety of possibilities. Here are only a few instances:

* Clothing that is available in several sizes and/or colours.

* Many material possibilities for furniture and other home furnishings.

* Various tastes, ingredients, garnishes, etc., in food products (e.g. for a restaurant website)

Most shops will carry a few items in multiple varieties, and many rely significantly on this kind of merchandise. Thankfully, WooCommerce has a built-in method of adding almost any options to your product pages.

Attributes and variants are the two main components of this system. It's crucial to make the distinction between the two clear because they are frequently misconstrued.

Attributes

With the use of attributes, shoppers can learn important details about a product's size, colour, material, and other characteristics.

All of this material is descriptive. Although it is mentioned on the product page, the consumer cannot access it or alter it.

Variations

Variations, on the other hand, give the buyer real options.

You must also include variations if you want customers to be able to choose amongst various possibilities.

To simply give your consumers more information, attributes can be used without variants. However, you must first set up attributes if you intend to use WooCommerce variations. Don't worry if this sounds a little complicated; we'll walk you through every step of the procedure.

How to Create a Variable Product in WooCommerce?

Step 1: Add Attributes to Use for Variations

I'll add two properties, Color and Capacity, to utilise for my product (a phone), similar to the example before.

Select Product > Attributes, enter the product's name and slug, and then select Add attribute.

Click Configure terms next to each of these two attributes to add values (various colours and capabilities).

I added various colour and capacity options for the product in a manner similar to adding attributes.

It's finished! To use the product, we've incorporated more properties. Go on to step 2 now.

Step 2: Give the Product Specific Attributes

You must first create a new product page.

Go to the Product section on the Admin Dashboard, which is immediately below the WooCommerce section, and click Add New. Fill all the relevant details for the product on the Add new product screen.

Next, select the Variable product in the Product data area by scrolling down.

Click Custom Product Attributes under the Attributes tab. You can add step one's produced properties to the product page in this part. Simply select the necessary properties from the drop-down menu, click Add, and you're done.

After I gave the product two properties (Colour and Capacity),

Then, for these two aforementioned features, I will add values (various colours, capacities). By selecting the values and clicking Select items, you may complete the task quickly.

Keep in mind that you MUST check the Used for variations box after adding values to the properties. It is necessary and crucial because you can only use the variations for the goods in this way.

Don't forget to click Save characteristics at the end.

Step 3: Include Modifications for the Products

You must include the product variations after modifying the product attributes. The values of the qualities are combined to create these variations, such as a green phone with 128GB of capacity, a yellow phone with 256GB of capacity, etc.

Step 2 of the process is still open on the screen. Click the Variations tab, then Add Variation, Create Variations from All Attributes, and Go.

Don't forget to save and publish the product once you've added information for all the variations.

I'll head over to my WordPress website's front end right now to see the outcome.

It's all finished! The process of introducing a variable product to WooCommerce is complete.

You may use the many helpful features of the WooCommerce plugin to help your business succeed. And one of them is the variable product feature. I hope your company is prosperous and successful constantly!
